Dear Past Imperfect, Future Unknown Writer,
Thanks for writing me a story! In general, I like most things. I am a multishipper, and I read slash, het, femslash, and gen. Femslash and gen are especially welcome, as they tend to be underrepresented categories! I also like all genres: fluff, angst, adventure, case fic, humour, romance, character study, slice of life/domestic, you name it! I prefer my angst to have a ray of hope and not be too grimdark.
I have a lot of diverse characters and freeforms and not a lot of specific prompts outside of the tags, which means there are many ways you can take the story you write me - I just love time-travel stories! Whatever we match on I will be incredibly happy.
Tropes that I particularly enjoy are found families, ride or die friendships, loyalty, hurt/comfort, pining, POV outsider, canon divergence, characters with low self-worth being loved and accepted, happy poly relationships, happy asexual characters and relationships, competent characters being awesome, women being super awesome, women supporting other women.
When it comes to time travel, I really like when people travel within their own timelines. I don’t mind if it’s on purpose or accidental, or if the time travel is bodily or if they replace/possess their younger/older selves. I really can’t get enough of is reading about characters trying to balance changing enough to ensure a better outcome with preserving enough that their future knowledge isn’t completely useless. I also really enjoy when some characters(s) and the reader know more than others, and the tension that comes from watching them try to keep the secret and wondering if and how the others are going to figure it out – I enjoy this regardless of whether the other character(s) figure it out for themselves, are told by those who have the secret, or if they never figure it out at all. If you have an idea that works along either these lines, but doesn't match to any of my freeforms, knock yourself out! These two things are the main reason I adore time-travel stories.
I don’t really enjoy PWP – in fact, I prefer any sex scenes to be of the fade to black variety, or referred to, rather than described, if included at all. I also don’t like incest, teacher/student, mpreg or a/b/o, even as romantic tropes. I don’t like to read about infidelity or about protagonists deliberately doing things they know will hurt people they care about, characters being publicly embarrassed or humiliated (sometimes okay if it happens to villains/antagonists, but definitely not protagnists/sympathetic characters), characters being falsely accused of something they didn’t do, jealousy/love triangles, or conflicts due to misunderstandings that would be easy to clear up if characters would just talk to each other (conflict from other sources is fine and fun!). I dislike character bashing: unless the character is a villain in canon, please either write them sympathetically, or leave them out. I'm also not too fond of mundane AUs (college, coffee shop, etc.) - I prefer stories set in universes that are canon or similar to canon.
This all being said, am not that picky and will enjoy most things, if none of my prompts below grab your imagination. I’m sure I’ll love whatever you write!
Specific fandoms:
Harry Potter: This is one of the fandoms where I’d love time travel within their own timeline. I’d love to see them butt heads with people who don’t have as much future knowledge as they do, trying to get the Horcruxes without people figuring out what they’re doing, maybe even trying to prevent Voldemort’s return in Goblet of Fire, or trying to avoid the Battle of Hogwarts in Deathly Hallows – if you write a story about any Weasley, obviously they will have a priority of making sure Fred (and everyone else) survives.
Stargate Atlantis: Just as in all my fandoms, I’d love something within their own timeline, either on purpose to fix things or accidentally so they have to keep their future knowledge secret. For this fandom, I’d also be very happy with time travel back to the time of the Ancients, or to the future via solar flares, in the style of the Last Man (it doesn’t have to be quite that far). I love the worldbuilding of the show, so anything that builds off that would be great – the idea of a floating/flying city, the way they never seem to have enough resources, the way they can lose contact with Earth at any given moment and are so reliant on the Stargates, the way different societies react differently to the Wraith threat, and the place of the Atlanteans in the Pegasus galaxy, etc, so feel free to explore those aspects! Evan Lorne is my favourite character, so I’d love if he was given focus in the fic. Crossovers with SG1 are very welcome.
Stargate SG1: This is one of the fandoms where I’d love time travel within their own timelines, either on purpose to fix things or accidentally so they have to keep their future knowledge secret. Just as in Stargate Atlantis, there are several aspects of the worldbuilding that I love – the complicated intergalactic alliances, the reliance on Stargates and the way they are lost if anything happens to them, and the strong bonds between the team members. I love all the characters of SG1, so I will most likely be happy with whatever you write in this fandom! Crossovers with SGA are very welcome.
Animorphs: This is one of the fandoms where I’d love time travel within their own timeline. There is such a development of the characters over the books, I would be very interested in how the older, traumatised, jaded and ruthless characters of the later books deal with the problems of the earlier books, and how the other characters relate to the time-travelling character(s), since they won’t have gone through as much yet.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: This is one of the fandoms where I’d love time travel within their own timeline. I feel like there is so much each of these characters would want to fix (and different characters would prioritise different things), and I’d love to see whether and how they manage that. Buffy is one of my Forever Fandoms, so whatever you write here will make me incredibly happy!
Young Wizards: Just as in all my fandoms, I’d love something within their own timeline, either on purpose to fix things or accidentally so they have to keep their future knowledge secret. For this fandom, I’d also be very happy with time travel to a different time outside their own timeline. I love the way wizardry works in this series, and would love to see more of the characters using wizardry in their fight against the Lone Power. I would also be very interested in seeing where you choose to send the characters, if you do go outside their own timeline, and about their adventures trying to blend in, and perhaps meeting the local wizards of that time?
