Dear Crossworks writer 2021,
Jun. 16th, 2021 08:40 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Thanks for writing me a story! Should you so want, I can be found at both Tumblr and AO3 also as ChronicBookworm, for any stalking purposes.
In general, I like most things. I’m a multishipper, and I read slash, het, femslash, poly, and gen. I also like most genres: fluff, angst, adventure, case fic, humour, get-together, established relationship, character study, slice of life/domestic, you name it – or a mix of them all! I’m very fond of long, plotty fic, but don't feel pressure, I'll be just as happy with something short and sweet.
Don’t feel restricted to stick to the characters and crossover pairings I prompt for – I do have favourite characters, which might bleed through in some of my prompts, but I also like almost all characters (I tend to like protagonists and heroes better than antagonists and villains, but I also adore complex and multi-faceted characters, and I love minor and major characters equally), and would be happy to see any combination, these are just the first that came to mind. Crossworks is one of my favourite exchanges because of this surprise element and not knowing which characters I’ll be getting. The prompts below are there to help, not box you in, so please feel free to write something different if none of my prompts below grab your imagination or inspiration strikes you in a different direction.
All my requests are for crossovers, rather than fusions – what I’m really interested in is seeing how characters from the different fandoms interact with each other, whether they get on well or not, exploring parallels and differences between them, and possibly applying skills and knowledge from one fandom to another. Anything that works along those lines is bound to tickle my fancy.
The length of the sections has nothing to do with how much I want the request, only with how many different ideas/questions I have for each. I want to read them all very badly, so I’m sure I’ll love whatever you write!
This got quite long – feel free to just read the parts that are relevant to you.

Agent Carter, Narnia
I’d love to see something with the Pevensies interacting with the Agent Carter crew! Maybe the Pevensies are also agents of the SSR after the War? Or maybe they are civilians who help the SSR agents just because they’re in a place to do so and it’s the Right Thing To Do?
Maybe their time in Narnia marked the Pevensies in some way, and either SSR or Leviathan/Hydra or some other sinister organisation is after them? Maybe they don’t quite trust that the Agent Carter crew have their best interests at heart? Maybe the Agent Carter crew don’t quite trust that the Pevensies aren’t hiding more sinister secrets? Maybe they don’t understand how these on the surface normal, middle-class British schoolchildren/young adults (depending on when you set the story and whether you fuff the timelines) can be so competent, and think they’ve been trained as spies?
I like reading about Pevensies who are somehow Different due to their time in Narnia, for instance unexpectedly mature and competent for their ages, or having skills you wouldn’t normally expect from children or young adults in the mid-20th century, but might expect monarchs from a fantasy medieval kingdom to have. I would prefer all the Friends of Narnia to be alive and well in the story – either they survived the train crash, or it never happened. I’m also less fond of the part where Susan turned her back on Narnia and separated herself from her family, or the judgemental tone they use when they talk about how she cares for nothing but “nylons and lipstick and invitations” – feel free to leave that part out entirely and make up your own headcanon on what the Pevensies would be like when they’re older, regardless of what the later books in the series say, or make it clear that Susan can like nylons and lipstick and invitations and also be clever and insightful and retain her belief in Narnia and her siblings’ respect.
Perhaps the Pevensies are in the US for some reason (holiday? Moved there after the War? Working for the British arm/equivalent of the SSR?), or perhaps the story’s set in England (I’m sure there are reasons why Peggy and Jarvis might go to England – family reasons? Sent there by the SSR because they blend in? There on their own investigations, posing as a Lady and her butler?). Do they come across the Pevensies in their investigations? Are they perhaps even investigating the Pevensies?
Maybe it’s even set during the War – maybe Jarvis meets the Pevensies after he has rescued Ana and been discharged? Maybe they live nearby and help Jarvis and Ana find their feet after what they’ve been through? Or maybe Stark is interested in recruiting them/they get involved with his wartime activities and meet Jarvis that way?
Maybe Peggy meets them during leave in London? Perhaps Peter is a new recruit who ends up where the Howling Commandoes are (he’d be just old enough to sign up by the last year of the War, if he was born in the early months of the year), or maybe even Edmund (if he lied about his age/the timeline is fuffed a bit)?
There are plenty of opportunities for polite manners hiding unexpected competence and BAMF-itude on both sides. Plus, the understated snarking would be through the roof!

ASoIaF/GoT, LotR, Narnia
All three worlds in this request are full of rich and complex world-building, complicated politics, characters who struggle with what it means to be a good person, and the fight against evil – all good things I absolutely love! I’d love to see them meet – how do the characters adapt to their new circumstances? How do they get on with the locals?
Either book or show-verse is fine for any of these canons.
Narnia, LotR
Maybe the Wardrobe leads to Middle Earth, rather than Narnia, and the Pevensies end up there – how to they adapt? Do they join the Fellowship? Do they arrive in Gondor or Rohan, and help fight the forces of darkness there, and only have brief contact with the Fellowship?
Or maybe they use the rings, trying to get back to Narnia after their adventures, and go to Middle Earth instead? Same questions apply, but these Pevensies will be older and more experienced, and have skills their younger counterparts don’t, so they might fare better.
Or maybe Susan’s horn summons heroes from Middle Earth to Narnia? How do the characters react to talking animals? How can they help Narnia? How can Narnia help them?
Do Lucy, Merry and Pippin bond over their shared joy of life and high spirits? Or is she more drawn to Sam’s practicality and loyalty?
Does Boromir end up in Narnia after his death? Does Narnia offer him a chance for redemption?
What are the differences between the Dwarves of Narnia and the Dwarves of Westeros? How do Gimli and Trumpkin get along?
If you want to write ship-fic, I have prompts for Boromir/Susan in several letters here on dreamwidth (mostly from 2018 and 2019), but I am a multi-shipper, so if you ship something else or feel like writing gen, go for it!
ASoIaF/GoT, LotR
I’d love to see how the Fellowship adapts to Westeros? How do the characters from ASoIaF/GoT react to dwarves, elves and hobbits? Can Gandalf help them fight the White Walkers? How do the Starks react to Boromir, who looks exactly like Ned but isn’t him? Or maybe they end up in Essos, and join Daenerys’ campaign against slavery there? Does she and Aragorn bond over being Kings and Queens in exile, raised far from their lands with the weight of their ancestors’ mistakes?
Or maybe some characters from Westeros end up in Middle Earth? Where do they end up – Rivendell, Gondor, Rohan, or even the Shire? Are they welcomed with open arms, as more soldiers in the war against Sauron? Or are they viewed with suspicion?
Do any of the characters join the Fellowship as the Tenth Walker? Does Sansa make a place for herself at Gondor’s court? Does Tyrion join Bilbo in the library of Rivendell? Do Brienne and Éowyn bond over being women who want to fight but are scorned for it/not allowed? Does Arya help Sam and Frodo sneak into Mordor? Does Jaime see similarities between Denethor and Aerys? How do the Starks react to Boromir, who looks like Ned but isn’t?
I haven’t requested any specific ships for this combination of fandoms in previous exchanges, but feel free to write whatever ship you like, or none if that’s what you prefer – I’m very easy to convince to like a ship!
ASoIaF/GoT, Narnia
Narnia is on the surface a much kinder world than Westeros, given it was written for children, but there are hints of darkness and mature themes there as well (what happened to Charn, or slavery in the Lone Islands and Calormen, for instance).
Just like LotR, maybe the Wardrobe leads to Westeros? That would be a much more tricky situation for the Pevensies, given the complicated politics of Westeros, and that they might not be prophesised saviours, but of course, it depends on when and where they end up. In the North, just before the Winter? King’s Landing, during Joffrey’s reign? How do they adapt – are they mistaken for nobles, or do they have to fend for themselves as small-folk?
Or maybe they use the Rings to get there, either deliberately, or trying to get back to Narnia? Where do they end up? In the North, just before the Winter? King’s Landing, during Joffrey’s reign? Are they recognised as Kings and Queens, or are they mistaken for powerful sorcerers who can travel the worlds at will? Maybe the Dawn Treader reaches Westeros?
Or maybe they arrive in Westeros during the height of their reign, as Kings and Queens? Maybe Susan’s horn somehow ends up in Westeros, and it summons the Pevensies – either by one of the armies of the War of the Five Kings, or by Daenerys when she wants to conquer or rule Slaver’s Bay and Westeros, or maybe by the surviving Starks to face the White Walkers? Or maybe Melisandre uses some magic to summon them?
Maybe Narnia and Westeros are actually the same world, and they can make diplomatic visits? How does that work, when the denizens of the one country are mostly magical creatures and talking animals?
For a story set in Narnia, maybe Susan’s horn calls characters from ASOIAF/GoT to help them against some calamity – the White Witch, the Telmarines, the Calormenes, or some other canonical or non-canonical threat? I don’t mind who gets called – possibilities are Brienne, Robb, Jon, Jaime, or any other skilled fighter or general (canon is full of them, and all of them would lead to fun results – maybe even Robert for a more unusual choice) to fight a battle, Sansa, Varys or Tyrion, or some other mastermind (again, plenty to choose from) if the problem requires a diplomatic solution, Daenerys with her dragons, or Arya for more sneaky solutions – or something else entirely, the choice is completely up to you!
If you want to write ship-fic, I have specific prompts for Sansa or Brienne paired with various Pevensie siblings (not at the same time) in many, many of my precious letters found at this dreamwidth. However, I am a multi-shipper, so if you ship something else or nothing at all, go for it!

Buffy, SG1
I really like how both canons have supernatural/sci-fi elements to hide from each other, and I like seeing the characters try to piece together what is going on – whether they get it right or wrong. I’d love to see characters from both canons get to show their competence – and I want them to be open-minded and accept the reality that the others live in (please don’t have Sam be dismissive of the Scoobies and insist magic must be science against all available evidence – have her be rational and willing to listen to other points of view).
I have a weakness for stories where any of the Scoobies turn out to be related to any of SG-1 – I like seeing the characters interact with each other under new circumstances, being slightly awkward and unsure of each other, different world views clashing, but eventually reaching understanding and acceptance.
Or maybe Daniel knows Giles from their time at the British Museum, and either one goes to the other for help with something? Maybe SG-1 investigates weird occurrences in Sunnydale? Maybe the Scoobies find evidence of weirdness in Colorado Springs, and thinking it might be another Initiative, go to investigate?
Maybe they even meet in space – perhaps the Scoobies end up on another planet through some magical mishap (maybe involving Dawn’s blood, or some nefarious scheme by a demon), and think they’re in another dimension until they meet SG-1?
Or maybe they actually travel to another dimension, one where aliens and Stargates exist and demons don’t? Or maybe SG-1 dimension travel to Buffy’s world? How do the respective team of heroes adapt to their new world, and how does the local team react to the newcomers?

Buffy, SGA
I love the world-building of SGA, so I’d really like this to be Buffy characters in the Pegasus galaxy or on Atlantis while it’s on Earth, rather than SGA characters in Sunnydale. I’d love to see them deal with and try to move on from the horrors and wonders they experienced in Sunnydale, and I’d love to see them deal with the horrors and wonders of Atlantis and the Pegasus galaxy.
How do the characters come to be there? Does one or more character join the Atlantis expedition? How suspicious are the expedition members of them, or do they manage to sneak under the radar before something forces them to reveal who or what they are? How do the skills and knowledge they have from Sunnydale apply to the Pegasus galaxy?
Does a portal dump them in the Pegasus galaxy? If you go this route, it would be fun to see them establish themselves in Pegasus independently of the Atlantis expedition before their paths cross. Maybe they think they’re in an alternate dimension, until they meet these people who are obviously from Earth? How do the Atlantis expedition members react to other Earthlings in Pegasus? Or do the Buffy characters try to keep their origin a secret?

DW, SGA
I’d love a story with one or more former companion(s) (I’ve prompted for Donna and/or Martha in other exchanges, so if you want to go that route, you can check out my previous letters at this dreamwidth, but I’d be just as happy with any other companion) as a British or UNIT/Torchwood representative on Atlantis! I’d love to them make a place for themselves in Atlantis, and interact with the other members of the Atlantis expedition. I’d love to see them apply the skills they had before travelling with the Doctor and the skills they picked up during their travels in a new environment. I’d love to see them be appreciated for who they are and what they can do – maybe not at first, maybe it takes some time, but eventually. I’d love to see them deal with and try to move on from the horrors and wonders they experienced during their time in the T.A.R.D.I.S., and I’d love to see them deal with the horrors and wonders of Atlantis and the Pegasus galaxy.
I’d be especially keen on the Atlantis people not knowing that they’ve travelled with the Doctor (maybe they don’t even know who the Doctor is, or maybe they think he’s a myth, or maybe they have access to some of Torchwood or UNIT’s archives about him), and being a little bit suspicious of them at first (why are they here, how are they qualified, where do their loyalties lie), maybe finding out during the course of the story, or maybe it never comes up – maybe the companions manage to prove their competence and loyalties some other way.
I love the potential of the world-building of SGA, so anything that builds off that would be great – the idea of a floating/flying city, the way they never seem to have enough resources, the way they can lose contact with Earth at any given moment and are so reliant on the Stargates, the way different societies react differently to the Wraith threat, and the place of the Atlanteans in the Pegasus galaxy, etc., so feel free to explore those aspects!
I haven’t seen season 12 of Doctor Who, so please avoid spoilers for that season, but everything else is fair game – including making Yaz, Ryan and/or Brian your companion(s) of choice to send to Atlantis.

Leverage, Orphan Black, Sense8
There is something incredibly satisfying about a group of hyper-competent people working together to take down corrupt corporations/organisations! Shady science, evil corporations, competent protagonists, loyalty, trust issues, and found family – all of these shows are like catnip to me. Mix them up, and it gets even better!
I really like the canon pairings of all of these shows, so please don’t break them up, but I’m happy with any other ships, or none, whichever you like!
Leverage, Orphan Black
Ophan Black is full of shady people, corporations and groups for Leverage to do a job on – DYAD, Neolution, Brightborn, Proletheans... the list goes on.
Maybe they run across Clone Club in their investigation? Do they think all the clones are just one incredibly skilled grafter until they find out the truth? Or maybe they know about the cloning experiments? Does Clone Club trust the Leverage team, or are they waiting for the inevitable betrayal?
Maybe Sarah and Sophie compare grifting techniques? Does Hardison gleefully join Scott, HellWizard and Cosima for board games (or maybe they’re even internet friends)? Do Eliot and Helena compare fighting techniques? Is Alison’s rehab the same rehab from the 12-step job? Does Parker teach Kira how to break out of handcuffs, just in case?
Leverage, Sense8
Again, the Leverage team can help in the fight against BPO! Maybe Hardison and Nomi know each other, and Nomi reaches out to him for help? Maybe Amanita calls Leverage in to help her save Nomi’s life when she’s in hospital?
Or maybe they run across each other independently? Leverage takes on BPO for another client and stumbles across the Cluster? How do they react to these people who seem to know things they shouldn’t, and have such a diverse range of skills? Do they work together to take down BPO and Whispers?
Or maybe they do a job on Bak Enterprises to get justice for a client defrauded by Joong-Ki, and have to deal with not only the Cluster looking out for Sun, but also an active police investigation led by a competent detective Mun?
Maybe the Leverage team is even trying to run a scam on Rajan and Kala, thinking they’re involved in shady business to do with the pharmaceutical company? How does the Cluster rally to protect one of their own?
Orphan Black, Sense8
This is the most complicated of the crossovers in this grouping, since both canons have so many twists and turns, have lots of characters, all the characters have secrets, and there are about fifty-eleven factions to keep track of – but that just makes it more fun! Is there a connection between BPO and DYAD/Neolution/Brightborn?
Maybe Will and Beth (pre-canon or in an AU where she survives, either way works) bond over being police and feeling powerless in the face of corruption in the police force? Or maybe he bonds with Art, in a canon-compliant take on the crossover? Maybe Kala and Cosima work together to figure out the science behind clones or behind Sensates? Maybe Alison and Lito exchange acting tips, and compare community theatre and professional film-making? Or you could pair Sarah and Wolfgang – I don’t have any particular prompts, but something tells me they’d have a very interesting dynamic!
return to top
Mansfield Park, PotC
Sir Thomas went to the Caribbean in canon – perhaps he took his family with him! How does the family settle in to Port Royal? How do free-spirited Elizabeth and righteous Fanny react to each other? Are they swept up in the pirate-related excitement, or do they stay out of it? Maybe Norrington is stationed on the ship they take to get over there, or maybe they meet while already there? How does Norrington relate to the Miss Bertrams and Miss Price? Does he fall for Fanny (or maybe even Maria or Julia!) rather than Elizabeth, or does he stay true to his first love?
Or if the story is set in Regency England rather than 1720s Caribbean – how does that change the situation for the PotC characters? The romance between Will and Elizabeth seems even more improbable in this situation. Perhaps Governor Swann and Sir Thomas are old friends – how does Elizabeth relate to the Bertrams? Does she and Fanny strike up an unlikely friendship, as different as they are, or are they too different and more adversarial? Elizabeth might find Fanny sanctimonious and dull, whereas Fanny might find Elizabeth scandalous – if she’s already had a bad experience with Mary Crawford, perhaps she’d be especially suspicious of “open-minded” and “modern” women? Or would she see that even though Elizabeth is also outspoken and blunt, she’s still a good person?
There is of course the naval connection, with both Admiral Crawford and William being in a position to know Norrington – how does the addition of him to the events of Mansfield Park change things? Perhaps Mary sets her cap at him, rather than Edmund, or perhaps he’s charmed by Fanny, and falls for her integrity and moral certitude? Maybe he can help William advance (without Henry’s ulterior motives), and earn Fanny’s loyalty and admiration that way?
If you want to write ship-fic, I have prompts for Norrington/Fanny in many previous letters at this dreamwidth, but again, I’m more than happy if you want to explore other ships and pairings, or none!

Mansfield Park, Master and Commander (film)
This is quite similar to the above request in that it comes with a built-in connection through the Prices’ and Crawfords’ naval connections, even if the specific Caribbean connection is lacking in M&C – although I am sure that at least some members of the crew of the Surprise have ventured to the Caribbean, and they could very well have met Sir Thomas there. There is even no timeline adjustment needed, since they are set in pretty much the same era (Mansfield Park is set maybe a tiny bit before M&C, but not really enough to make a difference).
Maybe William served aboard the Surprise alongside Aubrey, Maturin, Pullings et al.? Or maybe Mary and Henry know the Surprise crew through their uncle, the Admiral? Maybe they come across Fanny in Portsmouth?
Fanny/Pullings is the tiny little rarepair of my heart, and I’ll adore you forever if you write it (I’ll adore you forever if you write any of my requests, but since this one is so rare, it has a special place in my heart). I have plenty of prompts for them in previous letters on this dreamwidth, suffice it to say that I think they would be very good together, Pullings is easy-going and cheerful enough to balance out Fanny’s more serious side, but he’s also hard-working, loyal, and dutiful enough that she’d still be able to admire and respect him, unlike Henry Crawford. And James D’Arcy looks very dashing in this film, which is a plus! That being said, I am open to other pairings, or none, you go wherever inspiration strikes you!
I haven’t read the Aubrey/Maturin books, but I am more than happy for you to use material from them, as long as it can be understood by someone who just knows the film.
